With the unfortunate truth of femicide running wild in the poorer population of India, BCM and their associated pastors and workers have begun a fight to save little unwanted baby girls, and then look for sponsors for them, that they might survive, and have a life.
Built in 1999, our two-story Glorious Children's Home is designed for neglected, abandoned and orphaned children. It can house 150 children, from toddlers to teens, and it is blessed with a staff devoted to providing them peaceful security and positive Christian discipleship.
Every year BCM holds a Vacation Bible School after the graduation in April, and beginning of classes in June. With over 3,000+ Children attending each year, VBS is a huge opportunity to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
BCM has a clear vision from God: We are committed to launch one hundred dedicated van teams to accelerate the work of evangelism in India, by any means available. Help us achieve our goal!
As the King of Kings school grew, Body of Christ Ministries began to realize that the very real problem of the Caste System was being a stumbling block to others. So they decided to build Prince of Peace school, a school built specifically for the poorest of the poor.
Among the growing student populations of the King of Kings and Prince of Peace schools, now numbering 800 children, with several hundred on waiting lists, the Gospel of Jesus is a daily presence in their school experience. They are discipled naturally, as their schoolwork is conducted in an environment of Scripture, prayer, worship and testimony. For the tens of thousands of other children on the Island of Rameswaram, BCM has for nearly a decade been hosting a one-week Vacation Bible School, during the brief time each Spring after April graduation and before classes begin again in Early June.
It began with just a few hundred children, gathered from the lanes and villages surrounding the Training Center, but has now grown into a huge child evangelism crusade, with three thousand attending in May of 2010. It is a delightful but daunting marathon week for the entire BCM staff, involving mega-logistics of transportation, music, drama, organization, lunches, order, communication and lots of fervent prayer, as these children are introduced, most for the first time, to the Truth and Life of Jesus. The cost of this one-time event is a lot, running into thousand of dollars. This is especially because, each year, all the children are given a durable gift, such as a school backpack, lunchbox or hat, which has Scriptures printed on it in the Tamil language. These are then displayed all year long wherever they go, to keep the message of the Gospel travelling all around the district. Very many of these young and tender hearts have been won to Jesus. Their families end up hearing the Gospel from their own children, and many times will eventually become believers themselves.
This has become a great project possibility for American churches to sponsor, with the option of the church sending a team of young disciples to participate in a unforgettable week of children being brought to Jesus. It is astonishing to see thousands of kids, singing in discovery of the Lord Jesus.
Seven Teens and a Month
Seven teens from five Oregon families spent most of May working on a variety of Gospel projects with Body of Christ Ministries in South India. (Our family was represented by Laurel, on the left, and Judah, second from right.) The unanimous decision to send them to the other side of the world without older adult supervision was based on their reputations for virtue and discipline, and their experiences in previous overseas mission journeys. It went VERY well.
Body of Christ ministries will host about 2,500 children during the second week of this May, for Vacation Bible School. A team of seven teens from our Oregon fellowship will be there also for this exciting week of evangelism, exuberant worship and discipleship. This annual outreach has borne wonderful fruit during recent years, opening many new doors for the Gospel, into families and villages otherwise unreached with the good news of Jesus.
Moses Paulose explained that about one fourth of the children attending will be hearing the Gospel for the first time, and many of the other children are now young believers from VBS of previous years, returning for more instruction and encouragement in following Jesus.
